"It is exactly what I expect from a motel, but in a prime Chicago location. The room was clean, the property seemed well maintained. The staff was all very friendly and check in/check out was incredibly smooth and fast. They were able to accommodate an earlier check in with almost no notice which is always incredible. Rooms have a safe, mini fridge, microwave, and basic coffee setup. The showers are pretty nice, water pressure and temperature were fine with plenty of space."

I was expecting the musty smell and faint whiff of cigarette smoke that one associates with an older motel, but this was spotless, with new carpet, table and new chairs. "Room stunk of cigarettes although the listing says no smoking permitted. When mentioned to staff there was no accommodations made even when I stated it was causing my asthma’s attacks. Listing stated there is parking but the lot fills up at night when mentioned to staff i had no parking I was told it was my problem. Heavy prostitution going on in this area. I do not recommend. No fridge no microwave. Save your time and money."

"Upon arrival I waited in the lobby ringing a bell for 15 minutes then finally had to call to get someone to check me in. There was a male guest in the lobby, at the end of my check in Jessica the front desk person loudly said my room number out loud. Last I checked isn't it against policy to say a guests room number out loud? I know it was when I worked for a hotel chain. "Soooo. This place has a lot of bad reviews. We just needed the room after a music festival so we didn’t spend much time there. It worked. I can tell they are remodeling and changing a lot of things at the Carlton. That being said in the future it may be better! Our room was clean, nothing like the pics but it worked.
