"I had a lovely stay in Stern am Rathaus. Highlights were an excellent breakfast and extra details made by the cleaning staff (such as hanging up my coat and hat for me). One point to note is that the cathedral bells are quite loud, though it wasn't a disturbance."

"Stayed here for the Cologne 2026 Major. Place was very clean (lounge area and room itself), AC worked great during the heatwave, quick walk to the train station and Cathedral. If I came back for Cologne 2027, I would 100% book this place again. Biggest downside in my opinion is the room not having a tiny little fridge."

"Das Zimmer war groß und die Aussicht schön. Aber für den Preis, sind die Zimmer schon ganz schön alt. Die Toilette war undicht und ist unten ausgelaufen. Das Bad ist sehr dunkel, alte Fliesen. Alles bisschen altbacken. Die Lage ist super, das Frühstück war auch reichhaltig. Die Mitarbeiter nett. Aber wie gesagt ist das Hotel in die Jahre gekommen. Und für den Preis habe ich mir was anderes vorgestellt."

"Für 4 Sterne finde ich die Zimmer sehr klein. Es gibt wenig Ablagemöglichkeiten. Ansonsten war bis auf die Hellhörigkeit alles in Ordnung. Da die Gäste über uns spätabends und frühmorgens durch das Zimmer hin und her getrampelt sind, war an einen erholsamen Abend oder ruhigen Morgen leider nicht zu denken. In solchen Fällen wünscht man sich Teppichböden, die Trittgeräusche mit Sicherheit etwas dämpfen würden. Für geräuschempfindliche Gäste ist das Hotel nicht zu empfehlen außer, man hat Glück...

"Plus: Good location, easy connections to city centre, good connection to Cologne-Bonn Airport. Loved the Kärcher steam iron. Staff was very friendly. Minus: No coffee and tea facilities in the room and limited space to hang and unpack your clothes if you’re staying more than two nights."

"The location was great close to the cathedral. Only one complaint. As you know Europe does not typically use wash clothes so I brought my own. Arriving in the room I was happy to see there actually were wash clothes in the bathroom. Yet after the first room service the wash clothes were removed, including my own, and never replenished. I asked at the front desk but this was never adjusted or explained. So my learning experience is if you bring your own wash cloth make sure it is not white so it...

"There is ongoing renovations at the hotel and work starts early in the morning, one day it started at 07:30 so be prepared to be disturbed by loud drilling and hammering. We were not informed about the renovations at the time of booking or checking in."

"The breakfast was great. Our room was a little weird. There was a motion detector light that kept being set off inside our room. Our air conditioner was a little too loud for us so we had to turn it off. But the hotel is old and beautiful."
