"Where do I start! We stayed here 4 years ago and it was marvellous.it was thriving ,busy, Bustling .
This time when we arrived we was told check in your car else you’ll get a fine ( great fair enough.)
Then sign in and il take a card off you just in case your room gets trashed! Wow! We’re in our 60’s definitely not rock stars, id rather watch telly than chuck it out of the window!
The chap then said it’s so busy here because of the bank holiday ( Monday) that the dining room may not have space / to book in as soon as possible! We didn’t want to dine in as we went into the town anyway.
Breakfast was 7-9 again because it was busy .
Room was comfortable and clean but tired! Creaky floor boards .
Went down to breakfast at 8am not a soul to be seen. There was a list of how many rooms booked for breakfast. They were so busy yeah. 5! 3 had already been and gone! We waited a good 5 minutes before we even saw anyone.
Then we had breakfast which was nice but instead of buffet it was given to us plated .
On leaving an hour later.took cards back to reception. Not a word . We won’t be back again! Travel lodge cheaper £ 97 I didn’t expect the world but much better than what we got"
"I have stayed many times at this property. The front desk staff are always a bonus as they always have a smile and welcoming attitude. Also, the breakfast at the hotel continues to please with the amount of selections and piping hot. However, the hotel advertises free self parking and until this current stay that was the case. Unfortunately, they have changed their process and parking was managed by a third party. Not only was it not free, it was on the expensive side of other parking lots in the area. I would suggest returning to free parking for guest because it was a major factor in choosing this hotel in the area. "
"this is our 3rd time here, and we have already booked to stay in a couple weeks time, excellent staff, who are friendly and approachable, Karl on reception is fantastic! lovely pool are, and great distance to the waterfront and shopping centre."
"There is no doubt the grounds and historic parts of the hotel are beautiful but was expecting a higher quality of service and food / drinks . The waiting staff in bar and restaurant whilst lovely and friendly just not experienced or customer focused. .We dined in the restaurant and food was v mediocre . We had ordered a bottle of white wine to have during dinner and it eventually arrived after we had finished dessert despite asking for it . When it did arrive it was warm and no ice bucket again e had to chase and ask for ice twice . Breakfast similar experience junior waiting staff who don't really understand quality service. We had to wait for tea and then just got one cup poured and didn't get any opportunity for more or a pot .Service charge for dinner was added which we thought was cheeky bearing in mind the lack of service. They need a more senior front of house or restaurant manager . The new modern extension on lilac / purple is so outdated and seating not that comfortable. this area could be made much nicer needs a refurb."
"I paid on arrival at 5:10pm, to be then asked for my card details in full that made me feel uncomfortable so l froze my bank card. So glad l did as the young girl tried to charge me again 4 times from 9pm up until 9:30pm, she clearly gave up and although the Manager Islam was helpful l am yet to receive assurance via email that their error won’t be duplicated. I would avoid if l am honest"
"I was pleasantly surprised at the room. Much better than the first stay.
Much cleaner bedding. Pillows.
Cleaner overall.
The only negative. Was the room next door to ours. I presume was staff quarters.
A male was talking pretty much from early hours. Also watching something on his phone which I could hear. Kept me awake most of the night."
