"Impressive building reached via a badly rutted track. Nice big room but on that night in particular aircon would have been welcome rather than one fan. Restaurant food seemed basic and uninspired, and the morning breakfast had only a single staff-member battling heroically to keep up with orders and maintain the buffet. Staff were very friendly but unlikely to stay again."

"A nice hotel set in 7 acres of garden with access directly onto the sea front. All staff were very friendly and helpful although at busy times at breakfast time they could do with more people to help out. The pool was a great asset in the hot weather and fans in the bedroom helped with the heat and was a nice touch. The only minor complaint I might have is the traffic noise from the busy road just behind the hotel. I had a bedroom facing this road ( the back of the hotel) and the traffic started early in the morning and carried onto late into the evening. It was quite loud as I had the windows open due to the heat."

"The main areas have been refurbished and are lovely apart from the TV blasting away all day. ( children’s tv during a quiet breakfast) The bedrooms have not been re-done yet but are clean and ok. The breakfast serving staff were too busy chatting to each other to help. We went in shortly after a coach trip and there was no fresh fruit salad left and no pain au chocolate. No salt and pepper on our table, a dirty mug and very abrupt service, however the food was good. I think with someone in charge of the service this could become a very good hotel, front desk staff were helpful organising taxis for us. We will stay here next time we visit and hope the breakfast service will be better. Overall a good place to stay in a fabulous location, it could be fantastic."

"Beautiful position at base of Haytor Rocks. Parking easy and plenty of room inside and outside no matter what the weather. Staff great. Would recommend try and book with breakfast included. Likely to be a better deal. It is a shame the hotel has yet to install an electric charging point. There is one at an adjacent tourist facility but out or order. Other than that great!"

"Really enjoyed our restful and calm stay in this hotel. All staff were super friendly and helpful in a very genuine and authentic way. Spa pool and steam room was nice as was sunbathing on the lawns and our local country lane walk for a bit of exercise. Perfect two night countryside break in oasis of calm"
