"The Mercure is an older and I suspect much grander hotel at one time. It has a sense of opulence about it with wide staircases, high ceilings and stained glass windows, however there are also signs of aging, i.e. worn carpets, old windows. I think it adds to the charm. The breakfast staff were very attentive and pleasant. Breakfast was typical fare, with adequate choices available. My room was well appointed and the bed comfortable. "Horrible Hotel, my single bed room was very small. It faced the busy street. Loud vehicle noise. The walls are paper thin. I could hear everything from the room next to me. There is no front desk and I didn't see any employees during my three night stay. Key code to open the hotel front door. Once inside use your Key code to open the lock box and get your room key."

"This was the most dilapidated, dirty, stinky room I’ve had ever booked. Where to start . . . The walls were stained, the ceramic tiles on the bathroom floor were loose and broken, the room stunk of strong disinfectant, there were many spiders, and the bed was lumpy like an old straw mattress. "A nice independent hotel in a great central location. Opposite the bus station and Union Square shopping centre and very close to the rail station. Also within walking distance of many shops, restaurants/bars and attractions. The hotel is on a main road and if you are a light sleeper then this may mean it a bit too noisy for you. "When you flush the toilet in bathroom it makes a horrible loud noise. Info on apartment states it has washer and dryer - it does not. It has a washer and a hanging rack. There was still food in fridge and cabinets, was only given 2 towels for 4 people. Beds are close to floor and are horrible. No roller paper in one of the bathrooms. I truly wanted to walk out. "
