"I had a pleasant stay at Zanzibar Coffee House. Excellent service and I really liked my room. The location is a little challenging to get to though. The staff will kindly give you a map.

"We stayed in the Mercury room. The room was fine. The windows are coloured glass with no window coverings so it gets bright when the sun comes up. The walls are thin so you can hear outside noise but it’s not loud.
Good air conditioning, fan and there was a mosquito net.
There is a sort of mothball smell but that’s likely from bug spray.
Staff were nice and courteous. The breakfast was decent and there was a nice view of the Old Fort.

"The location is wonderful- among the labyrinth of Stone Town. The breakfast is an interesting spread of offerings and offerings of cooked foods. Our room was near the top of the lovely narrow stairs adjacent to the coffee, tea, and water station. The rooms were very comfortable and beautifully decorated. It was a safe location with an attendant always at the door. My one issue is that we left some money under a water pitcher and when we returned to retrieve it, it had been taken. I only wish the...
