"We enjoyed our very short stay at La Bonita Lodge. Unfortunately the airline lost our luggage so we spent most of our day in San Jose buying clothes before heading down to Puerto Viejo. We arrived late but had a nice dinner at Banana Azul and then were able to use the easy to follow directions to gain access to the property and our room. The room was spotless and welcoming. "The property is a mini animal sanctuary, with many agouti running around and sloths hanging in the trees. Many birds and frogs and even a kinkajou, although hard to spot. The hosts are very nice and helpful, Marise will make sure you and comfortable and Pierre will tell you all about the wildlife. The room is clean and comfortable, although there is no AC, so keep that in mind. It is walkable to Cahuita although a couple more min out of the way than some of the other hotels, wasn’t a problem to...

"Very nice cabins. The ones closest to the road can be a little noisy but not unbearable. Great restaurant on the property. We also visited a nearby Caribbean restaurant called Lidia’s for delicious food. The beach is walking distance behind the property but you have to search for a safe spot to swim due to big surf "

"I had a fantastic stay at this hotel! The staff was incredibly welcoming, the food was tasty, and the beautiful beach behind the property was a wonderful bonus—it felt almost private. Waking up to the sounds of howler monkeys in the morning was a memorable experience. Just keep in mind that having a car is beneficial. Highly recommend this place for a relaxing and peaceful getaway!"
