Top Shizukuishi Hotel Reviews
Hotel Royal Morioka
8/10 Good
"We came for the Sansa Odori festival and this was in the perfect place. The property is modern and clean. The room was a hit tight for 3 of us, but I kinda knew that going in. The beds were comfy and the cleaning and breakfast staff were super nice. The front desk, though, was a different experience. They were quite resistant to helping us with something as basic ordering a taxi or telling us where we could get tickets for the stands fir the parade. Using a translation app didn't help, either. If all the hotels we have stayed at in Japan, this had the least helpful front desk."
APA Hotel Morioka Ekimae
8/10 Good
"Standard APA hotel with a nice view of Kitakami River from my window. **Positives: *Pretty sure this was the one that had an HDMI port on the console, making it super-easy to plug in my Switch. (Might have been the APA hotel before this; I don't really remember; but that makes two APA hotels as which I've seen this: the other one was APA Keisei Narita.) **Neutral: *All these business hotel I've been staying at lately are blurring together, so I don't really remember specifics about this place.🤔 I remember it being pretty clean...I think. *Pretty sure the shower was nice, although not super-powerful and with a hose to the showerhead that was just a BIT too short. *The AC, while cold, was a bit skittish, and I wound up playing the "turn it down a degree, then it gets to cold...so I turn it up a degree, then it gets too warm" game. *Vending machine on the 1st floor sold drinks I drank... **Negatives* ...but no hot coffee. Had to get those at convenience stores. (Yes, it's August; no, that doesn't stop me from wanting hot coffee after meals.) *Check-in time was pretty hectic, and the line to check in was long and full of people whose patience was clearly wearing thin."
Daiwa Roynet Hotel Morioka Ekimae
10/10 Excellent
"Excellent hotel, great breakfast and really lovely staff. Perfect location too."
Dormy Inn Morioka Hot Springs
10/10 Excellent
"It’s a bit farther from the Morioka JR station, so I would recommend taking the bus to get there. However, this chain is very nice as usual. Friendly staff, a nice onsen, and a clean room. I generally recommend this chain."
Crowne Plaza Resort Appi Kogen by IHG
8/10 Good
"A nice set-up for a ski-in/ski-out resort. My kids also had great lessons with an English instructor. Getting to Appi Kogen was also quite easy with the buses from Morioka Station. We were also bumped up to a larger room, which was very comfortable, especially by Japanese standards. That was also great. However….. The only drawback was the very limited food options, especially for dinner with young kids, who don’t eat very much anyway. We live in Japan, so we’re accustomed to Japanese portions, local izakayas, bentos, etc. But this was challenging. It was either spend 20,000¥-30,000¥ for a mediocre buffet, where the kids just wanted a few bites of the simplest food. Or a yakiniku restaurant that would’ve been 30,000¥ - 40,000¥ for a family of 4. High-end sushi spot that would’ve been even more pricey. (The room service menu is quite sad, and again would be close to 20,000¥) Or, you’re left with getting instant Nissin ramen cups at the convene, which is what we ended up doing the last night. (Breakfast, again, pay steep prices at the buffet, or wait till the bakery opens at the comically late hour of 10:00am, when you of course want to be on the slopes.) Anyway, I’d suggest packing some of your own bentos, or be prepared to pay. ¥¥¥¥¥¥"
Daiwa Roynet Hotel Morioka
8/10 Good
"Staff are very friendly and helpful whenever assistance is needed. Room is ordinary but it's generally clean and tidy. Breakfast is very nice with lots of food variety and much local produces are included. One down side of hotel is that it doesn't have under cover and secure parking with only limited numbers of street spaces available."
