"The hotel itself is clean and really looks nice. Staff was tough communication-wise. (Restaurant couldn't put things on our room, for example.) Rooms are nice and big. Pool had no water in it. Wifi access was constantly a problem. It looks nicer than it really was in terms of stay."

We stayed one night in Dholpur--a quiet outpost on the road to Agra--at the Raj Niwas, a 19th-century palace hedged by private gardens. We arrived late and were met by the proprietress, an animated woman appropriately named ‘Bubbles’, who settled us into a cavernous suite at the top of an elegant staircase. With weary glee we examined our room's elaborate bath with eight shower heads, ornately furnished dressing chamber, and 40-foot ceiling decorated with intricate, glittering tile.
