"This was the perfect place to call home for the week we stayed and explored Yorkshire. Excellent food, perfect location, cozy. The staff were lovely. AND, it was Alf Wight’s (James Herriott’s) favorite spot in Thirsk. We couldn’t have liked it better!"

"Lovely apartment, very clean and well maintained. It has a great sofa bed too (possibly 2 sofa beds?) as well as a double bed upstairs. Check-in instructions were very clear. It would be nice if checkout was at 11am instead of 10. However, the overall experience was delightful. I would happily stay here again."

"Great location quick stroll to York centre. Room was quite small but everything to hand. The record player in the room was a nice touch and the staff were wonderful. Good selection from the breakfast menu also. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay!"

"I arrived early about 12 noon just to drop off my bag. Lady was cleaning the room said wait 5 minutes finished & let me check-in. I was allowed to store my bag for a few hours after check-out. Hotel is about 25 minutes walk from York Station, a 15 minutes to the centre of town and a 45 minutes walk to York Stadium. Single room ensuite was at the back of the house through the kitchen. It was big enough and very quiet. You are not allowed to eat in the room but they provide a table and chairs at the front of the hotel on a paved area next to the garden where you can eat a take away if needed. I had fish and chips from Dhillons close by there in August and it was nice. There a couple of places a short walk away Goodfillas and Mrs Greedys where you can get breakfast."
