Had had a great stay in this beautiful hotel. One of our group members had left behind his bag in a remote restaurant prior to his arrival and with the great assistance of the hotel staff, we managed eventually to confirm that the bag had been sent to a police station. The staff, who didnât speak good English , had been very patient in understanding my Japanese of limited proficiency , and had the matter sorted out to our great satisfaction.
The room was tidy apart from some cobwebs in the sealing. The hotel in general had quite a lot of cobwebs and insects here and there on corridors etc. English was mentioned as one of the languages but still it was very difficult to take care of anything in English. Otherwise service was polite. The one thing that really seems wrong to us westerners is the fact that the traditional rooms are said to have 'futons'. These are in fact thin ordinary foldable matresses and uncomfortable to people normally sleeping on beds. We thought of futons as thick matresses filled with hay, so quite sturdy - but no.
