"We always love coming here!! It’s a little dated but still our favorite place to go. The pool and hot tub are always clean, the amenities are perfect for families and you’re close to everything. Our only complaint would be that the person who checked us in was less than pleasant and a bit difficult. She attempted to tell us that we couldn’t check in because I booked the room and my partner was paying and since the card didn’t match the booking that we couldn’t check in (we were there with our 8 year old child). After a little back and forth we were finally able to check in. With that said, this will still be our go to spot."
"The hotel has a friendly staff, clean rooms, good continental breakfast, a pool and is adjacent to a lake front beach. A great restaurant is next door."
"We stayed at multiple Wyndham's hotels during our week visit through the area. This hotel had a well-cleaned room, yet the room had a slight musty smell. It was evident that those cleaning the room likely took pride in their work. On the other hand, the halls were smelly. The pool was nice, but the hot tub was not heated. There was no exercise room. The continental breakfast was fine, for the price. I didn't expect much. Overall, for the price, I suppose they did fine."
"We stayed in this room great price no one around looked like every room was full and still pretty much had the place to ourselves by the lake took out the kayaks tons of fossils and other cool rocks right on shore kids loved it owners were great we would definitely stay again"
Holiday Inn Express & Suites Alpena - Downtown by IHG
6/10 Okay
"We were charged an additional $5 at check in for amenities. Not a big deal but…there was no breakfast food at 9:40am and the gal was mopping the breakfast area closing it up and was rude when I asked if more food would be brought out. If you are going to start to charge additional for your amenities, at least have them available. Not cool Holiday Inn. Not cool. "
