This was not an ocean view room. Hotel Catalina is an old building with a lot of the historical charm that an old building has to offer. The room was very spacious. There is staff at the front desk only until 8pm.

This hotel has is a great location, close to the water and Avalon "Casino". It is located up a steep hill just one long block up from the harbor. We had a spacious 2 double bed room with sitting area, pretty views, and a relaxing patio off the hall. The staff were very nice and helpful. Keep in mind this is an older and very basic hotel, with a vintage feel. There is no elevator, no in room coffee pot, and no place to buy water at the hotel. The room had a tiny shower/toilet bath room and the hot and cold water is reversed in the shower. There is a small refrigerator.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel location is great. The price also was fantastic.The hotel is very old and the walls are thin. So the rooms are small, the plumbing is not the greatest, and you can hear the TV through the wall from the next room. They also do not have air-conditioning. However, we did not need the air-conditioning at all on our trip. They do have community balconies at the front of the hotel on all three levels that has a nice ocean view. Overall, we had a great stay, especially for the price.
