"Fantastic service from the moment we arrived we were offered an upgrade which whilst it sounded great actually was in a smaller bed than the original room that we had booked. Although the room was considered to be an upgrade we decided to decline that offer, due to this. Moving back into our originally booked room was seen as no problem at all from the staff who are with us within just a couple of minutes to put us back into our original room with the larger bed. However the room was not well maintained with a cracked pane of glass in the window, grubby corners, badly marked paintwork. Having booked the room online and seen it - I was not advised that the room was in the attic, and that there were 2 flights of stairs to access it. the second one being very steep and narrow. "Unfortunately we were put in a room that faces the road where there are ongoing roadworks. These went on all through the night, we gave up at 7 am and went for breakfast then headed straight home. The lorries were constantly back and forth with reversing alarms going. I have complained to premier inn but they accept no responsibility for placing guests in rooms while this work continues. Avoid Waterloo Street Birmingham for the time being."
