"We were pleasantly surprised by this hotel. I didn't want to set high expectations based on the location. It's a bit off that is next to a gas station, when we arrived we were not sure where to check in, no reception sign. So we walked into the gas station to ask, and to our surprise, there's a tiny desk at the back of the gas station where you check in. Again, seemed a little odd at first. But the room itself was spotless. You can see the headboard and baseboards are a bit scratched and...

"Since my last stay, the property is updated, clean and the staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. However, the breakfast wasn't up to par. Cold eggs, greasy limp bacon, and strange-tasting coffee. We appreciated the convenience of it, but only went our first morning. Also, had a strange issue once with hot water in the shower. Happily it was only once, where the water switched back and forth between hot and cold."

"We wanted a peaceful and comfortable place and we found that at Deer Haven. Asilomar Beach was a close walk or drive and park. Our room was clean, bed was very comfortable, hear the ocean at night with window open and the fireplace was wonderful as the mornings had just enough chill to use and enjoy with our coffee. Also met other nice travelers outside in the common area."
