"The breakfast was fabulous. Everything else was disappointing. The hotel was very busy and a bus had dropped off a group of guests. They had two receptionists to check everyone in and the li e was 5 deep. Once I got my room assignment, it took me another 15 minutes to catch an elevator because one of the three elevators was out of service.
The pool was a disaster. Dirty, wet towels overflowing, trash everywhere, cloudy water. I know they are renovating to pool soon, but cleaning is still helpful.
The rooms are fine, a little worn out."
Courtyard by Marriott Charleston Downtown/Civic Center
8/10 Good
"Spacious room - immaculate. Bathroom - immaculate. Housekeeping staff was attentive to our needs - excellent. Outdoor seating options-great. Check in staff - wonderful. My only complaints - why can't Marriot offer breakfast included with your stay? It's more expensive than other nearby hotels that offer breakfast. I realize I am paying for better accommodations - but in this economy, it would be nice. The only other complaint is having to pay for parking - though I understand that is not Marriot, but the city of Charleston. Not much to do in the city. The number of unhoused people is definitely a deterrent to staying downtown. Overall, since we had to be in Charleston, this was the best accommodation."
Country Inn & Suites By Radisson, Dunbar - Charleston
4/10 Poor
"The first room we went to did not have working AC and there were crumbs/a dead bug/hair in the sheets. We requested a new room which the staff was happy to oblige. We appreciated their hospitality. The second room had clean sheets and working amenities. The area didn’t seem the most safe, so all things considered, I don’t think we’ll stay here again."
"It clearly shows a pool but when I asked an employee where it was I was told it hasn’t been open for a long time! If I would have known that I would not have stayed there. False advertising that deceives customers"
"Very clean and beds were comfortable. Best nights sleep we had in over a week! Breakfast was good and had a nice selection of food. Would definitely stay here again."
