Depending on where you're coming from, your journey to Achill Island could be no sweat at all or it could go on forever. We've put together some useful travel tips that will help you start your next big adventure on a positive note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane trip can be easy if you take the right stuff. First things first, you'll need basic toiletries, such as deodorant and a toothbrush, a fresh change of clothes and a good book. Secondly, find room in your bag for your laptop, a charger, your important medications and perhaps a cosy neck pillow as well. Last, but definitely not least, don't forget to take your passport, travel papers and some money.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Pack all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and conditioner in your checked baggage. Any liquids or gels in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) will be confiscated. Sharp objects, like your trusty Swiss Army knife, and dangerous products which are explosive or flammable, such as spray paint, flares and matches, are also not allowed.
What to wear on a flight:
- Comfort should be your priority when deciding what to wear during your flight. Loose, breathable clothing is a sensible choice, as are flat, slightly roomy shoes.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a potential risk on long-haul flights. It's the result of blood clotting due to poor circulation and inactivity, so do some gentle foot and leg exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression socks.
