Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be a pleasant experience if you've planned ahead. We've put together a list of handy tips that will get your Anzio escape started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- It's simple — first, pack your passport, important documents, wallet and daily medications. Next, you'll need some in-flight entertainment to while away the time. A juicy book and a tablet crammed with your favourite shows are good options. If you hope to catch forty winks, a comfy neck pillow and some earplugs will also be useful. Finally, squeeze in a toothbrush and some facial wipes so you'll arrive at your destination looking fresh and raring to go.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Pack all your full-sized bottles of hair gel and hairspray in your checked luggage. Any liquids or gels in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) will be confiscated. Sharp or pointed objects, like your beloved pocket knife, and dangerous products which are flammable or explosive, such as aerosols and gasoline, are also restricted.
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of a plane aren't the place for a fashion parade. Wear layers and opt for shoes that are roomy, flat and easy to pull on and off.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by extended periods of inactivity, can be a risk on long-haul flights. Wander around the cabin and stretch your legs or do some gentle exercises in your seat to promote better circulation.
