If you're poorly prepared, air travel can be tough. But don't hit the panic button just yet. Follow these handy tips for a worry-free start to your holiday in Arthur's Pass. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- The trick to having a pain-free flight experience is to be prepared. First up, the essentials: passport, travel documents, credit cards and important medications. Next, bring on board items that'll help pass the time, like your laptop or a juicy novel. You'll also want to bring your chargers, a neck pillow and a pair of earphones. And of course, don't forget to chuck in toiletry items like a toothbrush, facial wipes and a clean set of clothes.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Double-check that you don't have a pocket knife hiding in one of the compartments of your hand luggage. Other prohibited items include flammable or explosive products, such as aerosol cans and bleach, and liquids and gels in containers with a capacity of more than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres).
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of an airplane aren't the place for a fashion parade. Layer your clothing and opt for shoes that are flat, enclosed and easy to slip on and off.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot condition caused by prolonged inactivity, can be a risk on long-haul flights. Make a point of walking around the cabin or do some gentle exercises in your seat to promote better circulation.
