- A plane trip can be a pleasure if you pack the right gear. First of all you’ll need basic toiletry items, such as lip balm and hand cream, a spare change of clothes and a good book. Next, leave space in your carry-on bag for your electronic gadgets, chargers, any medications and maybe a quality neck pillow too. Last, but definitely not least, don’t forget to take your passport, travel papers and your credit cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of restricted items can differ between air carriers, the general rule to follow is avoid carrying anything flammable, sharp or explosive. This includes screwdrivers, blades, aerosol cans and flares. Sports equipment like baseball bats, and objects that could harm other people, such as guns and swords, won’t be allowed on board either.
What to wear on a flight:
- The long, narrow aisles of your plane are no place for a fashion parade. Layer yourself up with comfortable clothes and don’t forget to bring a sweater as the temperature can drop in the cabin. Closed-toed, flat shoes are also a good choice.
- It’s likely you’ve heard about deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by prolonged periods of sitting. There’s lots you can do to mitigate your risk. Wear a quality pair of compression socks or tights, stay well hydrated and get your legs and feet moving. Do a lap or two of the cabin or perform some stretches in your seat.
