Wherever you're coming from, flying can be a pleasant experience if you've prepared well. We've made a list of handy travel tips that will get your Guacimo holiday started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Air travel can be a stress-free experience if you carry the right things. First of all you'll need toiletry items, such as deodorant, toothpaste and a toothbrush, a spare pair of socks and a good novel. Secondly, leave space in your carry-on bag for your electronic gadgets, chargers, any medications and maybe a cosy neck pillow as well. Lastly, and most importantly, don't forget to take your passport, travel papers and your bank cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of restricted items differs between air carriers, the general rule of thumb is nothing flammable, sharp or explosive. This includes things like box cutters, razor blades, aerosol cans and bleaching agents. Sports equipment like golf clubs, and objects that could harm passengers, such as pepper spray and guns, are also banned from the cabin.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your number one priority is to make yourself as comfortable as you can. Layer up with loose, breathable clothing and remember to pack a pullover in case it gets cool in the cabin. Opt for well-fitting, flat shoes as it's possible that your feet and ankles will swell during the flight. Leave the high heels and heavy boots in your main luggage.
- Unfortunately, a risk of flying long distances is developing DVT (deep vein thrombosis), a blood clot condition caused by prolonged periods of inactivity. To prevent this from happening, make the most of every opportunity to walk around and give your legs a stretch. Compression socks and tights are another great idea to help reduce this risk.
