We've pulled together all the info you need to make your flight as enjoyable as possible. Follow our top tips and you'll be cruising through airport security and seeing the best of Lancaster in no time at all. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane ride can be a pleasure if you bring the right things. First of all you'll need basic toiletries, such as a toothbrush and hairbrush, a spare pair of socks and a good novel. Next, find room in your carry-on bag for your electronic devices, chargers, your medications and perhaps a neck pillow too. Last, but definitely not least, remember to bring your passport, travel docs and some cash.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Put all your full-sized bottles of hair gel and hairspray in your checked baggage. Any liquids in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) will be confiscated by authorities. Sharp or pointed objects, like your precious Swiss Army knife, and dangerous goods which are explosive or flammable, such as flares, bleaching agents and fuels, are also restricted.
What to wear on a flight:
- Comfort should be your main concern when deciding what to wear during your flight. Loose clothing is a wise option, as are flat, closed-toe shoes.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a risk on long-haul flights. It's the result of blood clots forming due to inactivity and poor circulation, so do some gentle leg and foot exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression socks or tights.
