Depending on where you're coming from, your flight to Mount Cook could be as easy as pie or it could go on forever. We've pulled together some useful hints that will help you start your next big adventure on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Firstly, and most importantly, pack your passport, important documents, cash and daily medications. Next, you'll need some in-flight entertainment to while away the hours. A thrilling novel and a phone crammed with your favourite shows are good options. If you intend to take a short nap, a neck pillow and some noise-cancelling headphones will also come in handy. Finally, leave space for a toothbrush and some deodorant so you'll arrive at your destination looking fresh and ready to go.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of banned items differs between air carriers, the general rule of thumb is nothing flammable, sharp or explosive. This includes things like screwdrivers, blades, spray paint and flares. Sporting equipment like baseball bats, and items that could injure passengers, such as pepper spray and firearms, won't be allowed on board either.
What to wear on a flight:
- Comfort should be your main priority when deciding what to wear on your flight. Loose clothing is a wise option, as are flat, slip-on shoes.
- You're probably aware of deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by prolonged periods of inactivity. To minimize your risk on board, drink lots of water, consider wearing compression socks and move your legs and feet often.
