Wherever you're coming from, flying can be a pleasurable experience if you've prepared well. We've put together a list of essential travel tips that will get your Saundersfoot holiday started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Air travel can be easy if you take the right stuff. Firstly, you'll want a few toiletry items, such as deodorant, toothpaste and a toothbrush, a spare set of clothes and a good read. Secondly, find room in your bag for your mobile phone, a charger, your important medications and perhaps a blow-up neck pillow too. Last, but definitely not least, remember to bring your passport, travel docs and some cash.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of restricted items can differ between airlines, the general rule to follow is avoid carrying anything sharp, flammable or explosive. This includes things like box cutters, razor blades, aerosol cans and bleaching agents. Sports equipment like ski poles, and objects that could harm other people, such as firearms and swords, are also banned from the cabin.
What to wear on a flight:
- The answer to a comfortable flight often lies in your clothing choices. Prepare yourself for varying temperatures by bringing layers. That way you'll stay nice and warm if the cabin gets chilly. Shoes like flip flops and heels are best left in your suitcase. Instead, opt for flat, closed-toed footwear like sneakers. Your feet will thank you later.
- Most of us have heard about deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot condition caused by long periods of inactivity. There's lots you can do to reduce your risk. Wear a quality pair of compression socks or tights, stay hydrated and remember to keep your legs and feet moving. Walk around the cabin when possible or perform some stretches in your seat.
