Depending on where you're coming from, your flight to Shima could be a piece of cake or it could go on forever. We've compiled some handy tips that will help you start your next great adventure on a positive note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Firstly, and most importantly, pack your passport, travel docs, credit cards and medications. Next, you'll want some extra in-flight entertainment to help pass the time. A juicy book and a laptop filled with your favourite movies are some wonderful options. If you plan to catch up on some sleep, a neck pillow and some earplugs will also be useful. Finally, find room for a toothbrush and some cleansing wipes so you'll hop off the plane looking fresh and raring to go.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Pack all your full-sized bottles of hair gel and hairspray in your checked luggage. Any liquids in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3null4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated. Sharp objects, like your precious Swiss Army knife, and products which are flammable or explosive, such as spray paint, flares and gasoline, are also prohibited.
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of an aircraft are not the place for a fashion parade. Layer yourself up with comfortable clothes and remember to bring a cardigan as it tends to get cool inside the cabin. Flat, slightly roomy shoes are always a good idea too.
- A serious condition by the name of DVT (deep vein thrombosis) can pose a risk on long-distance flights. It results from blood clots forming due to inactivity and poor circulation. Walking up and down the aisle and doing foot and leg exercises in your seat helps to prevent this from happening. Wearing a good pair of compression tights or socks also helps reduce your risk.
