If you're not prepared, travelling can be testing. But there's no need to panic. Follow these handy tips and enjoy a stress-free start to your time in Sidney. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- First things first, put in your passport, travel documents, cash and vital medications. Next, you'll need some extra in-flight entertainment to while away the time. A thrilling book and a phone filled with your favourite shows are good options. If you intend to catch up on some sleep, a comfy neck pillow and some noise-cancelling headphones will also be useful. Finally, make room for a toothbrush and some facial wipes so you'll arrive at your destination feeling fresh as a daisy.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of banned items can differ between airlines, the general guide to follow is avoid carrying anything sharp, flammable or explosive. This includes screwdrivers, blades, spray paint and flares. Sporting equipment like ice skates, and objects that could harm passengers, such as swords and batons, aren't allowed in the cabin either.
What to wear on a flight:
- The narrow aisles of your plane are no fashion runway. Don comfortable layers and don't forget to bring a sweater as it can get quite cool inside the cabin on long-haul flights. Flat, slightly roomy shoes are also a wise idea.
- The serious condition known as DVT (deep vein thrombosis) is a potential risk on long-haul flights. It results from blood clots forming due to inactivity and poor circulation. Walking around the cabin and doing regular foot and leg exercises while seated is a great way to prevent this occurring. Wearing a good-quality pair of compression socks also helps reduce the risk.
