"What a lovely place to stay. Clean, comfortable, beautiful. Our room had a view of the water. We were greeted with a smile and friendly conversation, plus some great recommendations about our travel in the area. It’s obvious that a lot of careful thought has been put into making this B&B a wonderful place. "

"I very much appreciated the personal welcome, not just receiving access codes via a text. Janet, the manager, was very welcoming and exceptionally friendly.
The room and the house were clean and had a warm flowery scent. I was lucky to have been given a room with a direct view to the sea. This made it even more pleasurable to sit in the armchair and drink my morning coffee and night drink.
Should I visit Oban again, I would definitely try to get a room at the Hamilton Guesthouse again. Thank...

"The room had everything we needed, it was quaint & convenient. The kitchen / breakfast setup was perfect for doing our own cooking and purchasing just what we needed - a few eggs. I look forward to staying again the next time I’m in Oban!"
"To charge these ridiculous prices for a below basic room is disgraceful. Toilet not clean hair on top of the toilet. Wifi kept dropping out. Hotel in desperate need of refurbishment but they are to interested in ripping you off. I stayed here about 6/7 years ago and it has most definitely got eorse"
"I enjoyed my stay. My room was tiny, and so was the bathroom, but everything was clean and comfortable. Shower had great water pressure. I thought the staff went the extra mile to be helpful, and to provide upgraded soaps and shampoo, coffee and tea, and a breakfast bag with water, pastry and an apple. Plus, you can eat and drink downstairs at MacGregors. I signed up for a whisky tasting which was really fun! Whisky, music and stories. Made for an enjoyable evening."
"Dalrigh house was a decent stop in Oban. The small self contained room was all I needed and was clean and functional as a single traveller. All self-service but that all worked ok. Excellent parking and location. Good value. And a Sea View!"
"We stayed here for two nights in a Classic Twin Room in April 2026. The biggest positives were the excellent location and the staff, particularly reception and housekeeping, who were genuinely lovely and very helpful throughout our stay.
However, the hotel itself feels very tired and dated, with a sense of faded grandeur. Carpets throughout the corridors, public areas, and staircases were heavily worn in places.
A major concern was the spiral-style staircase. The steps are extremely narrow on one side, yet the bannister is positioned on that narrowest side rather than the wider side where support is most needed. This made the stairs feel quite dangerous, especially when carrying luggage. We also heard several other guests complaining about this. The lift was also extremely small and very slow for such a large hotel.
The bathrooms were clean and fairly modern, although basic and not especially well finished. Bedrooms were clean but dated, and the TV was tiny by modern standards. Drinks in the lounge/bar area were also surprisingly expensive.
One particularly worrying incident involved a friend staying in another room becoming trapped for a long while inside the bathroom after the door handle completely fell off late at night. As he has epilepsy, this was especially frightening and highlighted concerns around maintenance and safety.
Overall, the hotel has great staff and a fantastic central location, but it now feels in real need of refurbishment and improved maintenance."
"Both elevators were out at one point, the staff couldn’t check me in even minutes earlier than the 3pm guideline, and the whole ‘meal thing’ felt weird about inclusions or exclusions. Pay to park (but only 10 pounds) for two nights - but still…great location for rail or ferry, but the staff couldn’t check use an upgrade. PS. Why are the damn hallways so narrow to your room? I could barely get by a maids cart…seems like the fire regulations would be wider. Narrowest I have ever seen in any hotel. Plus, the fire extinguishers are proud from the wall vs. set back.. something else to knock off on the way by. Not worth what I paid per night for sure."
