"We had a great time revisiting the Alexandria Bay area. I highly recommend staying at Capt Thompson resort. The pool area is a nice place to hang out and visit with each other. We had a great meal at Bonnie Castle too. The resort is centrally located so within walking distance to the shops and boat tours. Enjoy!"
"Check in was very easy and the girls behind the desk were always friendly & helpful! There were 2 large coffee urns with creamers in the lobby area and a few tables and chairs in a sitting area. There is no breakfast on the premises, but a diner is just across the side yard, behind an outdoor pool (we did not use, but there were quite a few people in it). You can walk to the diner in 1-2 minutes. They served quick, tasty food! The rooms are small, but very tidy and clean. The A/C worked well and there was a mini refrig that kept our items very cold! The motel is close to downtown Alex Bay. It wasn't quite within walking distance for us 65+ year olds on an 85 degree day, but if you don't mind the walking, you would most likely get there within 15 minutes. There is also a pharmacy across the road on the way to Alex Bay.
It was an enjoyable stay and close to wineries and area attractions!"
"The coffee maker in the room didn’t work, the keys to the room didn’t register meaning couldn’t unlock the door, the bathroom faucet was broken ( it was useable but when you put the water on it pulled out on the base). No working pool. Breakfast wasn’t offered until 8:00 AM and not before. It was a little disappointing. But the staff was nice."
"The Riveredge property is very dated, and in need of maintenance. A few specific items: clear packing tape used to close carpet seams throughout the building; poorly outfitted fitness center; in our room, a window that had fallen out of the track, and a sliding closet door that also out of track. Bed was uncomfortable. A bright spot: the Windows restaurant for breakfast. Overall, we were disappointed enough to cut our 6-day stay to 3."
"Rooms small and although mine had some updates, there were still more to do The bed springs made noise when you moved. The bathroom old and in need of updating.
Definitely far from a resort'
On the plus side, the beds were clean and the bathroom towels were excellent"
"Very close in proximity to Alexandria Bay. We could even walk. You will cross the street then the road is calm and a nice walk to downtown. About 1mile to downtown. The property owner is professionally attentive. He checked on us daily to ensure we were happy. The housekeepers came daily to refresh the room. They were professional and helpful."
"Excellent value for the price. Staff were friendly, room was nice and clean. The house next door which happened to be right outside our room window were very noisy, early in the AM, dog barking like 7am, but it's not the motels fault on that. Did seem like the walls were pretty thin as we could hear our next room pretty loudly with the TV and talking but not late."
"Be sure to check in at their sister hotel 1.5 miles away, there is no office at the motel. The rooms that face the river have a parking lot in need of repairs as well as the steps leading to the rooms. The coffee maker did not operate in our room. While the bed, linens and bathroom were clean and fresh, there were dead bugs on the old heater below the a/c unit."
