"Loved the location and great for hiking and relaxing. Food was good but not exceptional. Main complaint is that we left early in the morning to get to the airport, 6:30 am, and we could not get out of the building. Front desk was unmanned and despite yelling a bit for assistance, we basically had to undue 2 locks at top and bottom of doors and then pry the locked doors past their locked position to stretch it open. A little scary had there been an emergency. We did try walking around looking for additional exits but could not find any. After 5 minutes we resorted to escaping as best we could."
"Incredibly beautiful castle, grounds and room. Highly advise a castle bedroom if you can! Very clean, comfortable and huge.
Biggest drawback was limited dining options during the week-same menu for lunch and dinner that gets boring pretty fast.
Breakfast was tasty and lots of options all included.
Close to Dublin- we didn’t have a car but 45 minutes by train and then 10 minute taxi made it easy (except book taxi ahead as Athy is pretty small).
Worthwhile for the luxury to stay in a castle!"
"The spa was marvelous. My husband and I spent nearly 2 hours moving from steam room, to pool, to sauna, to pool, to hot tub, to heated lounge chairs. Complementary robes and non-slip shoes. Absolutely peaceful and relaxing. Just what we both needed after a fast-paced week exploring Ireland. We also dined at their on-site Italian restaurant La Taverna Armento. A cozy, warm atmosphere with delicious pasta. I had the spaghetti armento and my husband had the pork ragu. Generous portions and reasonable pricing. I look forward to staying at this hotel again. "
"There was no food service at the pub. The beer was good, pub had friendly atmosphere.
On site parking was a bit misleading. There was a public car park down the street, seemed safe, but you had to pay"
"The room was very comfortable and cleanss well as quiet. Staff was wonderful, friendly and helpfull. Breakfast was very good. I would highly recommend staying at this property."
