"On the whole our stay was a very pleasant experience. Our room was light airy and cool in the heatwave.
The beds clean and comfortable. Decent shower/ bath. Not sure if the small towel in the bathroom was a hand towel or bathmat.
The only disappointment was the very basic
breakfast, just flake or some round cereal. No muesli, yoghurt, and NO fruit. Bananas are the cheapest fruit going.
The cooked breakfast, made to order was good .
Nice to have use of the large garden.

"I had a lovely stay at the Hope Anchor. The hotel is in a good spot, in a quiet but central location with a nice view over the town and countryside. The room was a good size with a good view outside. It’s a historic hotel, which adds to the atmosphere. The bathroom was large and modern. The bed was comfortable. Breakfast was good. I had a lovely short stay there in Rye."

"Die beiden Zimmer der Suite waren sehr schön, leider funktionierte in einem der beiden Räume die Deckenbeleuchtung nicht. Wir hatten das am ersten Abend gemeldet, ein Handwerker kam am späten Nachmittag des nächsten Tages. Es gab wohl einen Kurzschluss, wenn eine der Brunnen Nachttischlampen eingeschaltet wurde. Die Lösung: Die Lampe nicht mehr einschalten.
Abgesehen davon waren nur für 2 Gäste Handtücher vorhanden (wir waren 4). Erst nach mehrmaligem Nachfragen bekamen wir die fehlenden...

"Very clean, tasteful decor.
However, breakfast was disorganised. Miscommunication with order (although we were never asked/ordered), Brought strange, half-hearted breakfast with two overcooked eggs, hash brown and beef sausages - and we are vegetarian! No tomatoes, mushrooms, beans. Very dry. They didn’t seem to know what they were doing and hardly spoke any English. No butter or spread - had to ask for. Had to boil own kettle for tea (self service) and only cheap instant coffee. Didn’t know...

"The property was lovely. We stayed in room 9 as it was located on the ground floor and I use a wheelchair, plenty of room. We had a snack Friday evening and it was lovely food. The staff were very friendly, chatty and accommodating. Easy to find. Definitely will stay here again."

"Room, bathroom and bedding were very clean. Room had lovely sea views as it was on the 4th floor. There are no lifts so the hotel might not be suitable for the elderly or disabled. The TV didn't work in our room, we were offered a different room but we refused. We were, however, able to watch TV in an unoccupied room. The staff were friendly but quite often nowhere to be seen. "Sadly our stay was cut short but while we were there we experienced a hearty breakfast cooked by Nick and served by the friendliest of staff who all had your best interests at heart. Our room was clean and tidy and it's only negative was, it was on the top floor and there isn't a lift, but still worth a visit should you be going to Eastbourne."
