The owner tried to disguise the smell with air fresheners and by leaving the windows open but the smell of damp was still immediately apparent on entry. "A lovely apartment right in the centre of Bowness-On-Windermere. The accommodation was spotless, cleaning spray, washing up liquid and cloths were provided. The bed was lovely and comfortable. People have mentioned the stairs up to the apartment. They caused us no problem but if people have mobility problems I can understand they might be a problem. If we return to the area we would stay here again. I am glad I didn’t book somewhere in Windermere, this was five minute walk to the lake. "

"Room was clean, towels were not changed daily and tea/coffee facilities were not replenished every day, luckily I had taken my own. Staff very friendly, breakfast was good with lots to choose from. Pool area was good main pool was bright but a bit dark and dangerous in areas, the hot tub was not very clean or clear you could not see the steps to get in, needs lighting to see where you are going, health a safety hazard. Nice to have a bar on the poolside, and it stayed open till late. Lots of people in the on-site pub in bathrobes eating and drinking as you had to go through pub to get to the pool. Good in the pub had a good variety to choose from reasonable priced. All in all it was a nice hotel and a pleasant stay, but the pool area definitely needs to a bit brighter to see where you are going."

The pub is a great, friendly place to spend the evening and the fact that they serve food is a bonus if you don't want to go out. All the staff we interacted with were friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay there again."

"I reported the following: upon arrival excellent welcome, the room wardrobe had the laminate on one of the doors ripped and could easily have come off or cause an injury ( on the hand) whilst sliding open, a few hairs were also found, on the desk. I received a sorry about that but nothing else happened. The bar had a bell service due to lack of staff or guests which sometimes entailed a wait to be served. The hotel itself is historic and great setting / location. It rained each day so not good to see the scenery , not the hotels fault though. The evening food choice was very limited but they can cater for the options with the à la carte restaurant. It was cold in the main restaurant, after guests ( my wife & brothers wife) complained it was fixed the next day, however it ruined the evening eating with coats on! Overall for wedding it’s expensive even though it was quiet. I would not rush back here from Brighton though"

"We were greeted by a lovely, friendly guy who gave us the code for our room and warned us about the low ceiling when exiting the bathroom. The room was lovely, cosy and spotlessly clean. I personally loved the wallpaper, and the beds were very comfortable. My partner, however, clearly wasn’t paying attention. 藍 After using the bathroom, he came down the steps and BANG — hit his head. I reminded him we’d literally just been warned about it. You’d think that would be the end of it. It wasn’t. Throughout the evening, he proceeded to hit his head a further FOUR TIMES, bringing the grand total to FIVE. There is even a sign saying “MIND YOUR HEAD.” At this point, I have confirmed my suspicions that my partner is, in fact, a raving idiot. Unless there was a member of staff standing there holding a flashing neon sign saying “MIND YOUR HEAD, YOU ABSOLUTE PLONKER”, I genuinely believe he’d have carried on until he eventually sustained brain damage. 😂 Thankfully, it had absolutely no negative consequences for me as I’m only 5ft tall. In fact, watching it unfold provided some of the entertainment highlights of our stay. 藍 This is absolutely NOT a negative review! Lovely hotel, beautiful decor, cosy historic town, comfy beds and some great pubs serving good food within walking distance. Highly recommend — just mind your head. And if you’re travelling with an idiot like my partner, pack a helmet. 😂❤️ Thank you for a lovely stay! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (one for each bump)"
