Excellent stay! Amazing location - in the city centre within a few minutes walk to the Archeological museum, with lots or shops & restaurants around. The property itself is very charming, just how I like - refurbished in boutique style inter with authentic antique vibe. The staff is super friendly. Much more charming than a regular hotel or resort! Thank you!

Truly a lovely hotel in an old and beautiful home that once belonged to the owners great grandparents. The hotel contacted us to get our estimated arrival time and one of the owners greeted us, gave us a map and explained the town layout and gave us great restaurant tips (try Peskesi in particular). Very convenient location too.

A very nice boutique hotel in the centre of Heraklion. The room was excellent, and the tables in the courtyard made it possible to have a nice al fresco breakfast and evening drink. It would have been nice though to have the supply of tea and water replenished regularly - I stayed for four nights, and was down to my last teabag on my last morning in.

Very friendly host Thomas; messaged me quickly w/helpful replies to plan our arrival. Both hosts very welcoming & kind w/area info/map. Helped w/luggage & thoroughly explained use & access to property. Lots of towels/blankets w/comfy beds. TV w/cable channels. Nice coffee/tea service w/2 big water jugs in room. Very clean & spacious room; gave us upgrade to larger room for original rate. Provided early checkin upon request. Hotel is very cute & bohemian - 1 flight of stairs to rooms, FYI. Lovely courtyard w/covered area to sit rooms have small veranda w/chairs & table. A wonderful oasis in city - Highly recommend!

I loved my stay at Porta Medina. It really made my time at Heraklion a pleasant one. The room was big and spacious, good hot water and shower pressure. Nice touches like coffee pod machine, water carafe, beautiful courtyard and wonderful artwork dotted around the property. Thomas was very helpful to me and a lovely resident artist. Staying at the property, I realise it is something really special with historical references to the Ottoman period and an old water well (now covered over for safety reasons). If I was going to be picky on one thing, there was a little bit of mould in the shower. It wasn’t a big deal and the place is absolutely immaculate otherwise.

Lovely restored period building in a quiet side street but just a few minutes away from the busting touristic centre of Heraklion old town. Parking is not so near, especially for anyone with mobility problems and the hotel does not offer any catering, not even breakfast, so you need to go out to "start your day".

Great stay highly recommend

Great stay, perfect location, beautiful building. The room was clean, spacious, stylish & comfortable - the bed was a little soft but thats personal preference. Communication for our late arrival was good, we had no worries about arriving after 11pm. We would definitely stay the next time we're in heraklion.

Walkable to the port, shopping, and dining. Very nice renovated villa. Quiet building. Street noise can be loud and planes fly over, but settles down around 11. We were happy to stay here and not the normal touristy places.
