"First and foremost I will never use Expedia again. Once I booked and paid for my mother’s and I trip I though everything was perfect just had to pack and get ready to leave (we booked approximately 2 months out) it wasn’t until my mom called to figure out our transportation 3 days before the trip, to and from the airport that we realized I had fat fingered the zip code on the credit card and reservation never went through still gave me updates on when I was leaving etc. My wonderful mother got it all sorted but will never use them again. Positives of the resort: Super friendly event staff! Sufficient Beach lounge chairs! Buffet was good if you got there in time. The pours for their drinks were wonderful. Bar staff very friendly. Room was close to the beach. Great bar in room. When you something additional (towels etc.) the staff brought it right away. Negatives: If you did not get to the buffet within the first hour of it opening, you were going to get a good selection of food. It was nearly impossible to get a reservation at the restaurants, we did get one but it was at 8:30 which is too late to eat, so never got to experience them. The hotel is extremely loud, if you want to take a nap during the day, you won’t be able to as the cleaning/other staff yell to one another all day starting around 6:30am. Our toilet ran about every 15-20 mins too which was somewhat loud. I had a huge rip in the blanket provided. Beds/pillows were extremely uncomfortable and hard. No "

"We managed to secure a good deal through a third‑party vendor; otherwise, the stay would have felt quite expensive for what was offered. The restaurant and reception areas were well maintained and clean, but the rooms and corridors could definitely use some TLC. Attention to detail seemed to be lacking — the lifts were dirty, and the walls along the corridors were marked and worn, giving more of a back‑of‑house feel rather than a guest‑facing environment. The room had an unpleasant sewage smell and didn’t appear to be well cared for. I’m not sure if this is a result of the recent hurricane, but the property would really benefit from the level of upkeep and guest experience delivered by the teams in Cape Verde, who clearly know how to maintain their hotel to a high standard. The food was okay, but I feel that RIU focuses too much on quantity and ends up sacrificing quality. At times, it felt more like they were serving in bulk rather than catering to guests. That said, the selection available was quite good. The entertainers were great and constantly interacting with guests, keeping everyone engaged both day and night. The catering and bar staff were also very friendly and always attentive. "

"From the minute we arrived outside and were offered refreshing drinks the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. The hotel is gorgeous: comfortable beds by the outdoor pool, a large hot tub and friendly bar staff. It hosts a celebration of Jamaican art and culture in the corridors and rooms which gives a sense of character which can be lost in some high-end but cloned hotels. Here we knew we were in Kingston. Breakfast was great. Everyone was tuned in to ensuring we had a wonderful stay."
