"Beautiful place and owner is amazing person"

"WARNING: only hotel in the world with a 16:00 check in. If you can’t be bothered to staff the hotel at least leave a key box like every other hotel. Unfortunately we didn’t have time to waste waiting for 16:00 so checked into the Beachfront hotel in town for the same price and standard check in. "

"We loved our stay in the Blackhouse Cottage, and wished we could have stayed longer. It was gorgeously appointed and well set out. The beds were super comfortable and we were snug and warm in the cold. So cozy and the perfect place to unwind and relax. We would stay here again and again. "

"There was parking outside every unit for 1 vehicle. The rooms were fresh and provided the needed towels and blankets. Extra pillows and blankets in the room too. The owner Simon went above and beyond when we arrived, during a power cut (Narly storm chased us into Hokitika). He made sure we knew what was open for food and that we had a candle for a room until the power came back on."

"Staff were fantastic. Able to check in early. There was a power outage and they came around to check if I was ok and loaned me a torch."

"Literally the cleanest room I’ve ever stayed in…and my expectations are sky high! Place looked and felt brand new. No wall scuffs, no nasty grout, no warn carpet. It was adorable! Location was great too. Easy parking and just a short walk to the beach and the restaurants in town."
