"Hotel Laki can give you a variety of very different experiences. The original(?) building had the better rooms (where I stayed - hence the positive review). Spacious, comfortable, with balcony/veranda. All around, a great room. I did get to see one of the budget room in the newer part of the building - it wasn't great. Tiny, cramped, and just poor quality facilities. They also have the private bungalows, which I didn't get to see, so I can't comment on the quality. The common areas (restaurant, bar, sitting room) were all very nice and well up-kept. Breakfast was very good too. Bottom line is, if you're getting a budget room, expect it not to match the rest of the hotel in terms of niceness. Spring for the nicer ones, if you can."

"We absolutely loved our stay here! The staff was very friendly and the breakfast was delicious! They were even nice enough to pack our breakfast to go as we didn’t have time to sit! Would definitely stay again :)"

"The property itself was immaculate. Great indoor and outdoor areas and a well equipped kitchen for preparing meals (there are no restaurants around the area). There is also a washer and dryer so you can do laundry. The only downside are the road conditions to the property; they are rocky and not well paved. The hotel does not have a proper check in / front desk, so locating the exact building for me to pay for the stay was a bit challenging. "

"Spotlessly clean, very comfortable bed, quiet, modern, well equipped. The nicest place we stayed in Iceland. Tip: Yes, there is quite a long, unpaved road leading from the main coast road to Stracta. The road is fine, just keep going."

"Stayed in the small cottages which each slept 2 people. They were simple and quiet and clean. Desk staff was great, helpful with laundry completed over night for $30 for a load and we picked it up next morning. Breakfast was included and was good, had decent number of options. Didn’t try dinner at the restaurant. The horses were very nice to visit and get some photos. They like to eat dandelion leaves."
