"From Shikanoyu, it's a 5 minute walk to the cable car (called a Ropeway in Japan) that goes to the top of Mt Gozaisho. It's close to the Suzuka race course, and the flower garden Nabana no Sato. It's also within driving distance of Ise Jingu (1 hr 20 minutes), Kyoto (1 hr 30 minutes) and Hikone Castle (1 hr 25 minutes)
The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, and the food is what you would expect from a good ryokan in Japan...exquisite. My room was spacious and quiet, and the ofuro and rotemburo were again, just what you would expect from a ryokan.
I stayed 6 days, and enjoyed every minute of it."
"The hotel itself was pretty amazing (once you find the entrance), with massive clean rooms and good food, with hot spring water directly in the rooms.
The thing to understand is that it is in the middle of nowhere (industrial area), with no restaurants around it. It is also a 15-20 min walk from the station and then 20 mins to Nagoya. Or alternatively a taxi for about 9,000-11,000 Yen.
Best way is a taxi (GO app) to the station, then train to Nagoya for relative ease and not too expensive.
Also, if there is an English version of the TV-Screen ordering system for room service, we couldn’t find it. Quite extensive menu though and we worked it out mainly by picture but hard if you are picky as you don’t quite know what’s coming sometimes. That said, the food was much better than expected.
We used it as a base for the family (2 kids, 11 & 8), going to Legoland and Ghibli Park and a daytrip to Kyoto. As the room was absolutely huge it gave a great respite from days of walking and for the price it was incredible. Add the taxis and less so but in the end we were pretty blown away with the value for money."
