"Great 19th century Scottish inn next to the water with a lighthouse view. Excellent food, a cozy bar, and conveniently located within 60-90 minutes from all points of the island"
"Great location as a jumping off point for Skye. The food was very, very good. And the views from the dining area were lovely. I did appreciate that the hotel took measures to be energy efficient. This is very important in today’s world. However, I did not like the light in the bathroom turning off when I was in the middle of a shower. I take rather hasty showers so imagine my shock when I’m left in the dark and waving my arms to no avail. You have to exit the shower to trigger the lights. Great staff, super friendly and helpful. Maybe adjust those light settings a little bit."
"Beautiful suite and the hot tub was so appreciated after hiking in the highlands. Staff were friendly and dinner at the restaurant was incredible. We weren’t able to book dinner online, but they ensured we were able to attend in arrival. We had a wonderful stay. The view from the hot tub was gorgeous!"
"Lovely hotel/inn to stay at! The staff were excellent and quite helpful - even with our late arrival. Very comfortable room with private bathroom with shower that works well. Breakfast in the morning was quite good! Thanks for the lovely stay!"
"All perfect, the chowder, was.the best ever eaten.
Staff fab, even when mad busy ran a case upstairs for us. They never stressed.
Some may have a little with the noise from downstairs stairs quite late but we were fine with it"
"Nice location, very friendly staff. However, the place is very old, carpet was so stained I didn’t dare to walk barefoot. Mattress was brick hard. We arrived at night and next day’s breakfast bread was already out. The price is absolutely outrageous for what you’re getting here."
"The only things the Loch Shiel had going for it was that it was clean and on the way to where we were going. The view out the back of the hotel was a very nice bonus. The staff aside from the bartender was grouchy, cold and unfriendly. Absolutely zero Highland hospitality. The menu you see online IS NOT the menu available at the restaurant. The actual menu is very limited and the food was not very good. We were the first group seated at dinner at 7 and the last group served at 8:30 pm. There were 5 other groups who came in after us and were served and finished their meals before we were even served. We cannot recommend Loch Shiel hotel. If you need a hotel in the area our friends had a much better experience in the town of Strantion."
"Great property. Note that it is about an hour from most key points on Skye….Portree, Talisker, quairang and not many dining options.
Pick up groceries at the coop in Broadford."
