This hotel was excellent value for money. Our room was VERY spacious relative to other places we stayed in Tokyo/Osaka etc., and the amenities were high quality. We could see mountains out of one window and Matsumoto Castle out of the other, and it was a very easy walk to the Castle and many restaurants. It was a slightly longer walk to the train station and Matsumoto Art Museum, but it would be just as easy to get a taxi (or I assume a bus!). Really lovely place with staff that were extremely lovely and helpful - e.g. we were so grateful that they filled in our luggage forwarding cards for us!

The hotel is well situated. The bedroom was large and comfortable. The only downside was that the receptionist wanted to charge us 1000 yen to check out at 11.15 rather than 11.00. We declined.

Wonderful choice - Pick this hotel

Wonderful hotel. I will definitely come back. The bed is excellent, soft like clouds! I did not want to leave my bed in the morning. Breakfast selection is decent too. In your hotel room, there is very detailed muti-page recommendation of places and food to try. It is written in both japanese and english. The location is about 5mins from Matsumoto castle. Check if the castle does light up at night during your stay.

A great location and very comfortable stay

Fantastic location and clean hotel. Really enjoyed our stay but didn’t spend too much time in the hotel. The service is polite and the rooms are very functional. It is a little dated but still very clean and with everything you need. There was some building work taking place but we didn’t really notice any noise or disruption. Overall a great place to explore Matsumoto. We booked room only so didn’t try the breakfast.

An oasis for a short visit

Our stay was delightful. We visited Matsumoto to spend time with friends who live there. We found the city and people to be delightful. We were coming off a few hard days of “touristing” in Tokyo and the hotel and its staff welcomed us and made sure our stay was cozy and comfortable. The beds offered us the best night’s sleep we had so far in Japan and the bath salts offered at check in were some kind of magical elixir for our sore bones. We woke up refreshed and ready for the next part of our journey. It was bittersweet to check out. Thank you for the stay!

Great location in a lovely city. Very close to the castle and walking distance to the train station. Room was comfortable. My only criticism was that they would not let us access our room at 2:30pm as even though the room was ready. We had to wait around until 3pm.

Matsumoto is a great place to stop over for a few days. It reminded us of a Japanese version of a Swiss mountain resort. The castle is a very short walk away. Train from Tokyo is very easy and quick. The hotel is a 15 minute walk from the station. We caught a bus up into the mountains - no problem. The hotel room itself was a very good size, well maintained. The are staff very friendly and helpful.

The beds are super comfy and the amenities are pretty good. The shower is super hot and a great shower head! It is walking distance of everything and the breakfast is a great healthy option. The only down side was there was no help in getting back to the train station with all of our luggage. We were told that we had to walk. I would be aware of this if mobility is an issue.
