"We were given a room at the rear of the hotel which was in a converted annex. This was nicely decorated with basic amenities although we did have a shower and a bath. The accommodation was on 2 floors, with the bathroom on the ground floor and the bedroom on the first floor. This was not very convenient for us when using the bathroom during the night, especially as the stairs were steep and creaked, waking us both each time. There was one chair upstairs and one downstairs so we couldn't both...

"We were in room 169. It was a very long walk to the room. However, it was worth it. We had a full view of York Racecourse, from our balcony. The room was very roomy and well equipped. The restaurant served an excellent dinner and a very nice buffet breakfast. The hotel originally was a Manor House built in the 1880s. A very interesting history of it can be found online. "

Their website states that breakfast is made to order and I recall seeing it on the expedia page but then was notified a day before about where to go for food instead. "The rooms were very clean, however we had a disabled room but only shower with no chair in for the disabled person. The staff were very helpful and did get a chair for the shower. Breakfast was well staffed and a good variety of food on offer. Excellent. Bar was well staffed and well maintained with good stock. Bit disappointed that when we paid for the car parking, we was told £8 per day, however it turned out to be £10 per day. When we booked I also booked for a evening meal, which was...
