Great place for us to stay on our first family trip to Kenya. Good area to use as a base when exploring Nairobi before moving on to safaris. Shopping centres close by, restaurants etc. within walking distance and easy when taking a taxi to/from other parts of the city. Used the rooftop pool and sundeck quite a lot as well. Staff was helpful. We stayed at the start of our trip and decided to book it for the last night of our trip as well.

Overall, I had a pleasant stay at Novotel Westlands Nairobi, with some clear strengths but also several areas that need improvement. The staff were the highlight of my stay. Everyone was friendly, helpful and professional, especially the team at the gate and reception. Special thanks to Mr. Denniz, (porter) was exceptionally kind and helpful. The room was spacious and clean, although the view directly onto a neighboring residential building was disappointing. The hotel itself feels somewhat dated, with the character of an airport hotel. Some carpets and wall coverings were stained or damaged, and the property would benefit from renovation. The pool is quite small, and the music was far too loud for a relaxing atmosphere. The buffet was extremely extensive and the food quality was very good. However, the selection was heavily focused on Indian and European cuisine, with very few local Kenyan dishes. I would have appreciated more local specialties. The open-plan restaurant can be noisy, as some guests conduct loud business calls during breakfast and dinner. Unfortunately, the staff did little to address these disturbances. The gym and spa were excellent: spacious, modern, clean and well equipped, with professional staff. Check-in was unnecessarily slow. Despite entering all my details and passport information online the day before, I had to complete everything again at reception. Novotel also sends far too many emails before and during the stay, often about minor details.
