The Island Resort at Fort Walton Beach

"It’s a decent hotel if you like hidden fees. I’m not talking about 50 bucks either. When we booked the hotel we were told all we would have to pay was 30 something. It ended up being 50. They said it was for “parking and other fees”. They also hit us with a 250 deposit. We selected for beach view. Didn’t get beach view. We got two small mix drinks at their pool bar and spent close to 40 bucks for that. Which was watered down. Spent close to 9 bucks for two sodas. They also are nice enough to put two bottles of smart water in your room at 8 bucks a piece if you open them. This place is a tourist trap. Will not be returning."

"Upon our arrival at the lobby, the front desk agent who checked us in was very friendly. The beach view is spectacular, and the beds and pillows were very comfortable. The towels smelled fresh and appeared clean. However, the property is quite neglected. The furniture is very old, and the balconies were extremely dirty, including the walls. One of the walls appeared to be covered with bird droppings. Although the rooms have their own air conditioning controls, the system did not function properly. The room’s air vent was in poor condition, as were the bathroom exhaust fan and light fixture. The shower had very low water pressure and a weak water flow. The hallways and other common areas near the rooms also appeared dirty."

"For the price, our stay was somewhat disappointing. The resort was clean, which we appreciated, but the furniture and overall decor felt outdated and not quite as expected based on the listing. The property could benefit from some updates and improvements to better match its pricing. The amenities were adequate, but we experienced ongoing issues with the bus transportation service. Buses were frequently delayed, and there was considerable confusion regarding which route to take. Unfortunately, we found it difficult to get clear assistance when questions arose, which made getting around more frustrating than it should have been. Overall, while the resort was clean and offered decent amenities, the value did not fully meet our expectations."

"This was my second year in a row staying here for a few days in May before Memorial day. I love the location down from the crowded beaches, but close enough to hit the restaurants and amenties Panama City has to offer. The rooms are clean and spacious. I traveled solo at the last minute, but had a 2 queen bed room facing the ocean. I didn't use the pool, but it was clean and well appointed as well. I love that there is beach chair service right in front, so every morning I had a 2 chairs and an umbrella ready to go as soon as I stepped onto the beach (This is a paid service not through the hotel but right there!). Can't ask for anything more than affordabilty, cleanliness, a helpful staff and a beautiful beach."

"The location is the best thing about this property. The pool looked nice although we did not use it. The beach access is super easy. Our room was Ocean view which was very nice. The check-in process was very simple, but the staff was not very friendly and did not provide any information outside of handing us a room key. The exterior was very old and rundown. The bathroom in our room desperately needs updating. The tub was not clean however, the sink and countertop have been updated and that part was clean and fresh. Our king bed was comfortable with clean sheets so that was a relief. They need doormats to wipe the sand as there is no carpet in the room. The small balcony had two chairs with a great view, but the AC unit was leaking onto the floor, causing a huge puddle with mildew, gross. The small tiki bar was a nice benefit, but the drinks are overpriced for the surroundings at that hotel. Our room rate was way too high, but we booked very late and it was the only thing left available in the area. It was a sufficient day for one night because we only used the room to shower and sleep. But I would not return to this property."
