"We choose Hampton because of the guest ratings, and overall, we were okay with our choice. However, the first room we were given was reeking with a mildew smell so much so that we couldn't stay inside the room with the door closed. The front desk clerk said it's a problem room, so we were kinda passed that WE would be the guinea pigs when the hotel knows the room is a problem. They promptly got us another room (thank goodness for them the hotel wasn't sold out... imagine that!), but then the TV was stupid. It had to "warm" up our something but wouldn't just come on. We called and got, "That's interesting. I don't know what the problem could be." At that point, we were so tired, we didn't care enough, so we let it go. Then it came back on. We also weren't aware that the property is pet-friendly. UGH!
Anyway, still clean, no bugs, and good sleep equals peace of mind."
"It is a little old but still okay. Nothing really stands out, nor is it too disappointing. The room with a sitting area makes it a little more spacious. The pool is closed. The gym is tiny. Breakfast is added back to fill up in time."
Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Cookeville by IHG
6/10 Okay
"Our rooms carpet was pretty dirty. Lint and ribbon and other stuff on the floor. This was a no frills hotel. Which was fine, but it was a bit pricey compared to the lovely Holiday Inn we had just stayed in for several days in another state."
"This was the worst night of rest that I've had in a hotel. We arrived and the front desk staff was fine, but not especially warm or friendly. Upon entering the room, we noticed that there was mold in the toilet and the bathroom floor was sticky, and the bath stained. We went to swim in the pool and were very disappointed with how GRIMY that pool is... so we went back to the room for some sleep. Unfortunately, the curtains don't close all the way and there was bright light shining in from the parking lot all night long, so none of us got much sleep.
The beds were clean and comfortable, and the breakfast was decent, but otherwise we were not happy with the money or time spent on this stay."
