They had an old radio, record player etc. wonderful if you want to see an old Kotagede type house from the inside. There's a bookshop attached to the house and it has a good selection of books, including Indonesian books translates into English, a section on Javanese culture, and political books like Gramsci etc. Location is good near lots of nice restaurants, walkable to the Mataram makams,...

"I was booked the hotel for my friend, he told me his stay at AlZara hotel was fine, pretty basic 3 star hotel. Very disappointing that they did NOT serve breakfast, you have to order via online food delivery. The staff are friendly enough, even though they staring at you sometimes, because obviously not many western stay in the hotel. "

"Total scam. The place looked nothing like the pictures. Dirty, unliveable, electricity was down, location isn't in prawirotaman but in the alley near cemetary. I was shocked after looking at the non existing exotic garden ( only unkept weeds) and rundown place. Checked the room just to be sure. Totally busted! I saw it listed in many apps with non refund policy. Another couple arrived just as shocked. I didn't stay long enough to protest. Should banned this place. "
