The Lismoyne Hotel

"I stayed at the Lismoyne on one of the hottest nights of the year. My room was inevitably hot, and as the building is older, there is no A/C. But the fan that was provided made it as bearable as possible. The room and bathroom were spotless, and the bathroom spacious. My only criticism of the room was a lack of power points. I was able to enjoy a delicious dinner and glass of wine in the very pleasant garden. Service from the friendly staff was excellent, and as a solo traveller I felt comfortable in the relaxed atmosphere here. Breakfast was disappointing. The cooked breakfast was good as far as I experienced it, but the cold selection was not great quality, and I was surprised to see ready sliced as the only bread option in 2026. I do think charging residents for parking is a bit cheeky! Overall though, it was a comfortable stay and a pleasant change from the chain hotels."

"The hotel was quite booked up, so we had 2 rooms over a 3-day weekend and our baggage was transferred with no fuss or problems. Both rooms were clean, roomy and contained everything we needed, including a much-needed fan as the weather headed for a heatwave! Breakfast was lovely (we had a full English). The staff and the manager, Peter, were very friendly and helpful and made sure we were feeling happy about our stay at all times. A very nice place to stay while we visited one of our sons who lives nearby."

"26/27th/28th, Our weekend stay was for a wedding which was amazing! I had an issue with the rooms, my fault i double booked and the reason I gave 5 stars for staff/ service was because a lady called Diana sorted everything out for me with patience and kindness ( thankyou), also the waiting staff who served the meal were excellent, the food was quick, hot and cleared the tables very quickly with a smile. My slight dissapointment came the saturday morning of the wedding day for breakfast, because of the cancellation there was some confusion with booking it.. so turned out we hadn't.. but the manners of the member of staff slamming the bill and card payment machine on the table halfway through the breakfast and bringing 'backup' to make sure we paid the bill, even though I assured her that we were staying until Sunday and will sort the bill out then, left a lot to be desired! Extremely rude to deliver that kind of attitude during your meal, and then after the payment was made because we couldn't be bothered to argue, to say 'well, no one knows what they are doing here anyway!! 'clearly'!! Just totally unnecessary... so maybe a little note to self on how you 'discuss a bill' to a paying guest?? . Other than that, was a beautiful wedding in beautiful surroundings with competent staff and fabulous guests! Thankyou for our otherwise pleasant stay!"

"Beautiful settings and clean well kept rooms. Staff were excellent. The Grange was a little walk from the main hotel. Breakfast included was a standard ok, could have had more of a selection, but the evening dinner was fantastic. Will be returning to stay at the main hotel next time"

"Second time I have stayed at this hotel. The room is a lovely size and beautifully decorated. Easy parking on site. The biggest downside to this hotel is the WiFi. If you are choosing somewhere to work from, the WiFi doesn’t stay connected and is very slow. They need to get a separate WiFi for the hotel, and not use the same as the restaurant."
