Really a location that you should have a couple of days to visit, they have accommodations to fit all budgets, from multi millionaire to camping and everything in between. The golf course is FANTASTIC , the Safari is something that you should not miss. Your trip to South Africa should 100% include a trip to this resort. 1 in a million.

Great Stay @ Sun City

The staff were exceptional. I arrived in Johannesburg at 0400hrs. Arrived at the Hotel at 0800hrs. The manager was brilliant in allowing a very early check in by 0830 hours. Normal check in time is 1400hrs. We really appreciated the early check in as we had been travelling all day. Breakfast was absolutely brilliant.

We felt we didn’t know where things were. When we asked for a map at reception they didn’t have one. Generally, more information was required in the room so that guests can make the most of their stay. Daily cleaning services were excellent. Minor maintenance issues - toilet seat loose and sliding sideways and electric PowerPoint came out of wall when removing phone charger plug and created potential safety issue.

We stayed at the Sun City Casino Hotel in late August (still winter in South Africa) On 2 days we had temperature in the 30 degrees, 2 days had temperatures in the mid 20s and one where the temperature was high teens. You were allowed to use the pools at the adjacent hotels as well as the waterpark but not the Palace hotel. All the pools were not heated * including the Lazy river at the Valley of the waves so make sure you go there on a hot day. *Apart from a tiny part of the pool in Cascades which was warm! The Casino was a central location and was the centre of the night life for the area (Particularly at the weekends when there was a nightclub on site) During our stay there was some renovation work being carried out on the property but we were given an upgrade to a quieter room, which was good of them. The overall service was really good and breakfast was extensive with anything you would wish for on a buffet-style basis. We did use the Casino on one night and had to get a card to use it but, it was free and didn't take long you just needed a passport for identification. The hotel was quite quiet during the week but livened up at weekends. On site were a number of reasonably priced restaurants, Legends was our favourite as it had live music and you could have a dance too. The Maze is worth a visit and there are lots of activities to do from the hotel. We did a game drive, an escape room and a segway tour to the crocodile pit. All these activities were excellent.

The entire hotel requires a face lift. Lack of staff as well. When trying to get issues sorted at reception and ordering food and drinks by the pool. We got loved 3 times for our room. 1st room has Ants in it, 2nd room was an accessibility room. And we finally got issued a room that was suitable.

Had a great stay, very relaxing and rooms clean and well presented, but overall the resort is starting to look tired and not well maintained - swimming pools were dirty, filters blocked etc, no resort maps available anywhere so difficult to find our way around, draught taps in casino bars not working, ashtrays in casino not cleaned despite it not being very busy, tiles in restaurant broken and chipped not being repaired, water leak from ceiling so wet towels laid out on the floor, hotel lift not working, aviary a sorry state (hotel manager and concierge didn't even know what an aviary is let alone where it is!), tennis courts in need of resurfacing....lots of things that on their own not such an issue but combined don't paint a great picture. On the plus side, staff were friendly and helpful where they could be. Still, disappointing for a hotel that claims to be a 4 star hotel.
