Our accommodation was in a block beside the castle. The window was painted shut, beds were poor, a long walk to toilets and showers and no facilities in the room. The restaurant was closed. I'm ex military and have seen better army barracks.
Receptionist was so rude on arrival she didn't know about our booking and made me sign a piece of paper with print too small to read before giving us the key to our room. Telling my concerned partner that it was something to do with being added to marketing list for emails. When we paid for our room my partner & I expected to be able to use all the facilities described on your website. However we arrived to find the hotel full of drunken wedding guests. Empty beer bottles were all over the place including one left under the wheel of the wedding couples red sports car! We were told that weren't allowed to use any of the facilities. As we had had a long journey & didn't have any where else to stay we had no other choice but to stay.
A very polite young lady who was working a 16 hour shift showed us to our room. The window was only slightly open despite being such a boiling hot day, but we managed to wedge it half open with the wooden clothes hanger provided! There was an electric fan in the room. No tv in the room, which was surprising as there was no access to communal lounge tv due to the wedding.
We walked to the Ancient Britain pub & had excellent sevice and lovely food.
After walking back 2 miles to the hotel we spoke to two friendly wedding guests outside the front who said it was fine to join the evening festivities. My partner ordered a pint from the bar & then was surrounded by 4 male guests who threatened him. We were told we had to leave by the manager.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
We enjoyed our stay at Craig-y-Nos Castle with my family. The hotel is in a beautiful location and the building itself is stunning, with plenty of character.
We stayed in a family room with one double and one single bed. The room was quite small and fairly basic, but it was clean and perfectly adequate for our one-night stay. The bathroom was also clean and functional.
We spent most of our time exploring the area and went cycling, which was fantastic. There are plenty of outdoor activities nearby, making it a great base for a short break.
The only disappointment was that a wedding was taking place during our stay. Unfortunately, we weren’t informed about this in advance, so the bar and several lounge areas weren’t available to hotel guests. We had hoped to explore more of the hotel and relax with a drink on Saturday evening, so it would have been helpful to know about the private event before arriving.
Overall, we really enjoyed the surrounding area and had a lovely family trip. With better communication about private events, the experience would have been even better.
