"The room was clean and comfortable. The EnSuite bathroom was very small and a little difficult to use - it was a later addition to the room, made out of plastic. The view was amazing!
I did feel uncomfortable finding myself alone in the basement with one of the owners after agreeing to see the art exhibition but not realising I would be the only guest there."
"A beautiful ancient building dating back to medieval times and with associations with historical events.
Parking at a public car park some 500 metres away- free from 9-10 am with ticket but you have to pay after that.
A basic continental breakfast is provided and tea and coffee in the room.
Very close to beaches in Bude.
We enjoyed our stay but must confess en suite facilities and a TV in the room would have made it better.
Good value for money."
"The apartment is set in a small two story block, well appointed with balcony views over the lake. We didn't use the facilities as we were visiting places of interest and enjoying good food restaurants in the area. Would go back again"
"Overall it was a good hotel. The spa is quite pricey. The access to the beach or to the small town from the hotel requires a walk along a narrow uneven path with steep steps or you can walk along the roadside but there is only a pavement for about half of the journey so you end up walking in the road, which is narrow and has blind spots. As it is not fully accessible to everyone you would need to bare this in mind. You could drive to the beach & restaurants but from what are saw there is not a lot of parking. It would be nice if the hotel ran a shuttle service to the beach.
The hotel itself could do with some rejuvenation on the outside and having the windows cleaned on the inside and outside of the rooms would be a good idea.
The Wild Cafe is great for all meals and has a wider menu than the Ogo restaurant and provides better value for money. It would be great if they could create a section in The Wild Cafe that is adults only as listening to screaming children is in no way relaxing. The cocktail bar is nice and if you get a spot on the terrace in the evening you get great views. It would be better if there was a bar by the pool, even if only for peak season. This would save you having to go up and down steep steps.
The pools are good, the smaller one is heated. The sun loungers are not very comfortable as they are in just 1 position so you can’t lay comfortably and read.
I don’t think I would call this a four star hotel, definitely a solid 3 star."
"Staff, owners and even guests all friendly and helpful. Nothing too much trouble for owner snd staff. Lovely relaxing atmosphere in spacious, airy comfortable rooms. Plenty of free parking. Joanna was amazing, and even provided complimentary champgne for our wedding anniversary. Great food too. Our favourite place. We'll be staying again. Steve snd Jill."
