![Old Manor House site, Topcliffe Known as Manor Hills or Cock Lodge, this is the site of a medieval manor house belonging to the Percys. The view shows the outer ditch and bank in the foreground with the inner ditch [moat] and bank beyond. The conical mound was the site of a windmill. The manor is thought to have been erected in the 13th century and was described as 'ruinous' in a survey of the estate in 1577. Perfect location on the river, by the train station with just a 5 minute walk to the city centre.
We stayed in room 1 and had a lovely view of the river on the morning, hotel was quiet, warm and comfortable.
Martyn assisted with great communication telling us everything we needed to know prior to getting to the guest house, check in and check out was simple and easy.
