The beach at Tulum is perfect. Golden sand. Clear blue waters with reef. Lots of palm trees around and incredible nature - pelicans, turtles, birds of prey, fish, iguanas etc. The staff at Dreams keep their section of the beach spotless, so seaweed isn’t an issue either.
The seaweed made the sea impossible to swim in and the smell was not good. Some areas of the beach were so bad that you couldn't sit anywhere near so be careful which hotel or beach club you decide on as it will effect your experience.
Be aware there are plenty of algae
