"The outside of the building looks terrible. Abandonbed. I thought my husband was joking when he said that was it.
But the inside was completely redone and surprisingly modern and clean.
Communication was terrible, but thank goodness the couple who cleans was there and they were a huge help, otherwise we wouldn't have been able to get our access code.

"Lack of on site personnel made things a bit difficult as other guests kept coming in late and banged on the door at midnight when they couldn’t get the code to work to enter the property. Showers were cleaned but had a bit of sewage smell. Showers could use some upgrades."

"Perfect location! Five minute walk from bus stop number nine where a lot of the guided tours pick you up. 10 to 15 minute walk to downtown and to the attractions. 20 minute walk from BSI. Really clean facility and it was a quiet, respectful hostel. Full kitchen, which helped cut food costs down. Cozy bed and blackout curtains. Highly recommend! And private showers/bathroom."

"Great place to stay with easy access to bus stops! The only negative was the shower curtain in our bathroom - it was dirty and gave me the ick! Everything else was very clean. We stayed for four nights. Note they did not empty garbage/tidy the rooms/refill toilet paper we were almost out of, etc - likely typical for hostels type hotels.
Would recommend to travellers."

"The Kex Hotel is an excellent place to stay in Reykjavik. Staff are great, the property is very funky and the location is perfect. It could use a little more sound proofing but otherwise the perfect place to stay when visiting Iceland."
